WayAway Flights Review: Cheap Flights & Cashback on Tickets

WayAway is a new way to find cheap flights with cashback by comparing airline tickets. But does it help you save money for traveling? Find out in this WayAway flights review.

I know what it seems like.

Another travel or service app that isn’t that different from the rest, right?

Wrong. Very, very wrong.

WayAway brings a new spin to the game by giving you cashback on travel purchases, which no other travel service offers.

From finding cheap flights, hotels, or car rentals to getting support, WayAway wants to change how things are done.

And I’ll dive into exactly what it brings to the table to do that in this review.

Let’s get into it.

What is WayAway?

WayAway Logo

WayAway is a newcomer to the game.

But it’s looking at the giants like Google Flights, Skyscanner, and others and telling them to move over and make room.

WayAway is a new flight aggregator that helps you search for cheap flights and accommodation and get cashback.

And I don’t mean in-app cash, like with Hopper. I mean real money that you can withdraw and use for other things.

The platform pulls flight prices from hundreds of airlines and travel sites, helping you compare prices and find the best deals. Then, you get a percentage of that back.

But WayAway doesn’t only do flights.

It helps you find hotels, car rentals, entertainment, and even safety services if necessary.

But we’ll dive into all the insider tips and more shortly.

First, let’s look at how to use Wayaway for cheap flights.

How to use WayAway’s aggregator to find cheap flights with cashback

When you arrive on WayAway’s website, you have a nice flight search bar ready to help.

Simply type in your departure and destination airports, then it’s time to check out the dates.

WayAway Review 2023

Like Skyscanner, WayAway will display a price map below the date to give you information at a glance.

Flight prices below dates

Select your departure and return date. If you’re flying one way, choose the I don’t need a return ticket button.

Then click Search Flights.

WayAway will quickly show you the cheapest flights, along with some other options like:

  • Cheapest direct
  • Cheapest with a convenient layover
  • Most convenient

All of this information can help you quickly decide based on your needs. And, if you have specific requirements, you can play around with the search filters on the left.

As you browse, you’ll also see the amount of cashback you’ll receive by booking the flight through WayAway.

These vary based on flight and if you’re a WayAway Plus member (more on this in a bit).

Another cool feature that makes finding your flight quicker is when you highlight a flight duration.

If you have a layover, a simple highlight will show you how long the stopover is and where at a moment’s glance.

Once you’re ready to book your flight, you can click the Select Ticket button to view the full details of the flight and the total price. From here, the site takes you to another site to book through WayAway.

You can also get notifications for the flight ticket price for any price changes, share it with friends, and view additional details like baggage and luggage requirements.

So, let’s look at WayAway Plus a bit more.

WayAway Plus membership plan

So, let’s clear things up.

To get cashback, you have to be a WayAway Plus member. And that involves a fee.

Of course, there’s a catch, you may think. But it’s not a bad deal, to be honest, especially if you travel frequently.

Annual memberships cost $49.99 for the early bird price (it will be $99.99 in the future, so act fast!). But once you sign up, you get a bunch of excellent benefits:

  • Up to 5% cashback on flights
  • Up to 20% cashback on selected Booking.com deals
  • 10% by using KiwiTaxi.com
  • 7% on Tiquets.com
  • Up to 6% on Hostelworld
  • 5% on QEEQ
  • 5% on Rentalcars.com
  • Up to 3% on GoCity
  • Up 7% on Klook
  • 6% on Viator
  • 10% on AirHelp
  • 8% on GetYour Guide

Allow me a moment to breathe after all that deal-age!

But it doesn’t even stop there!

WayAway Support

You also get premium support. And this is different from your usual support. It’s like support on steroids.

Any travel-related questions you have, you can ask.

WayAway Support

Want to find the best car rental? Ask them.

You may want that perfect cafe with a nice, cute meal. Ask them that, too!

WayWay’s support is ready and willing to help.

WayAway Ambassadors & Hidden Gems

Do you know that feeling when you land in a city with a friend waiting to show you ALL the cool spots?

Well, WayAway has a travel content feature for that.

WayAway Guides

WayAway ambassadors got down and dirty to create the perfect collection of travel guides for you. Whether traveling across the US or the world, you can find the best places to visit, where to eat, and the best viewpoints!

So, if you’re a frequent traveler, the 49.99 price tag is pretty good once you figure you’ll pay it with just a few booked flights. And you get the best features available!

Comparison of WayAway with other travel services and apps

So many travel services and apps have appeared; keeping them all straight takes a lot of work.

But there are a few top services I’ll compare WayAway to:

  1. Hopper
  2. Skyscanner
  3. Google Flights
Comparison between WayAway, Hopper, Skyscanner, and Google Flights

WayAway vs. Hopper

Hopper logo

WayAway and Hopper are very similar.

They search various flights and low-cost airlines to find the best price.

Plus, they both offer cash rewards! But they are a bit different in what they offer:

  • Hopper offers “Carrot Cash,” which is their in-app currency you can use for money off flights and hotels
  • WayAway gives you real money back that you can withdraw to your PayPal account

They have similar results regarding flight prices, and the prices are mostly the same. But it’s worth checking both options to find the best price.

Speaking of flight prices, Hopper offers a Freeze feature that WayAway doesn’t.

If you find a flight price you like but are still determining if you’re ready to book, just freeze the price for 24 hours.

This gives you time to think it over and return to it later.

Use both options together for the best results and find the best deals based on your needs.

WayAway vs. Skyscanner

Skyscanner banner

Skyscanner is one of the biggest names in the game.

And its ability to search many flights and its flexible search options make it so popular.

But, many upcoming apps and websites have the same features. And Skyscanner offers nothing to match the cashback feature of Hopper or WayAway.

So while you get access to some of the best deals on flights, you’re missing out on the saving opportunities via WayAway.

For my flight finding, I search Skyscanner to get a base price. Then, I look for real savings with either Hopper or WayAway.

WayAway vs. Google Flights

Google Flights banner

Everyone uses Google Flights.

And that’s because Google’s search aggregator is excellent at finding the best deals. But, just like Skyscanner, that’s where its power stops.

Sure, you can search for multiple types of travel, book plane tickets, hotels, and more. But most modern travel services offer the same options.

And, just like Skyscanner again, Google Flights doesn’t offer the cashback that WayAway guarantees.

That’s why it’s better to leave Google Flights as a secondary option and use the tools WayAway provides.

WayAway Reviews

While WayAway is still a newer company to the travel scene, it does have a lot of excellent reviews online.

Two primary websites (ProductHunt and TrustPilot) have rating systems from users, and they received a 4.4/5 and 3.9/5, respectively.

Most customers rave about its:

  • Ease of use
  • Design
  • Customer support
  • Pricing

While there is some negative feedback, most of it concerns miscommunication, and the support team has quickly handled most problems.

So, it’s good to know you’re getting a quality product backed by other users’ reviews.

What type of traveler is WayAway suitable for?

While WayAway sounds fantastic, it’s only for some types of travelers.

For example, if you travel 1-2 times a year, you may have better options because you won’t benefit from the cashback.

But, for some travelers, this is a fantastic app to use. And here are some types that would benefit:

  • Business travelers
  • Backpackers
  • Digital nomads
  • Frequent flyers
  • Deal seekers

In a nutshell, WayAway is excellent for anyone who travels 4+ times per year and frequently buys air tickets, especially if you book international flights.

Where can I use WayAway?

WayAway has two options: website and mobile app.

You can find the homepage here if you want to use the website.

If you prefer a travel app, you can download the WayAway app from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.

And if you’re interested in WayAway Plus, you can score a discount using the code THETRAVELRUNNER. Or you can use this link to sign up.

WayAway for Affiliates

Not only can you share your link to get rewards as a customer, but you can also do it if you’re a content creator!

WayAway allows you to earn commission by partnering with them.

For example, partners can make 1.1%-1.3% on airfare and $10 with every WayAway Plus membership signup.

If you’re interested, you can find out more by using TravelPayouts, one of the largest travel affiliate networks in the world.

Is WayAway legit?

It seems too good to be true.

Cashback from your fares for your next trip? But you can pinch yourself because this is real, extremely useful, and safe.

So make sure to find great deals on airfares. WayAway offers plenty without hidden fees.

Skip the travel agencies and find it yourself. You’ll save a lot of money that way.
