11 Reasons to Use Escape Campervans On Your Next Vacation

Escape and hit the road with Escape Campervans! Try renting from the top campervan rental company and get a taste of van life. Find out more here!

Van life is popping more than your favorite movie theater treat, and you can try it with Escape Campervans.

From the easy rental process to the freedom a rental campervan gives you, it’s the best way to travel the western U.S.

So, if you’re looking to plan a trip soon, here are 11 reasons I recommend Escape Campervans.

A quick note: Escape did not sponsor me to write this post. This is based on my own experience and money. I wanted to share this experience with as many people as possible.

Why Escape Campervans USA should be your next rental choice

Renting a campervan to explore the United States is the perfect way to see everything this country offers, and that’s especially true of the West.

With your car, bed, and kitchen all in one, you have everything you need to start.

So, let’s see why Escape inspires people to escape their everyday routines and embrace their adventurous spirit by exploring the world (or just the US) in a van👇.

1. The easiest (and best) way to explore the US

If you’ve spent time in the United States, you realize that not having a vehicle is like not having a limb.

You might as well be stranded on a desert island. You’re not going anywhere anytime soon.

But, if you have a car, there’s the issue of where to sleep. Standard cars and SUVs aren’t known for their five-star hotel quality beds.

And that’s where Escape comes in.

Combining a vehicle, bed, and more into a small package gives you everything you need for an extended road trip that’s easy to drive.

A man ties his shoes in the van

One week, two weeks….four months? It doesn’t matter.

You’re comfortable and taken care of with Escape.

So, as you motor from state to state, national park-to-national park, you don’t have any worries except where you’ll park to sleep that evening.

And if you can’t find any camping spots, set up for some dispersed camping where the vehicle is parked outside a designated campground!

A man stands on a small rock with the Grand Canyon stretching out in the background

And with campgrounds spread across the USA like Chicken Pox, plenty of options exist.

So, whether you’re just starting or already planning your trip, I would highly recommend using Escape to get off the beaten path.

2. More affordable than a hotel room

I rented a van in Phoenix, AZ. And the daily price was $50/day (including insurance).

But, I saw deals for as low as $1/day with Escape vans in Phoenix after I booked. I’m going to re-emphasize that so it sticks.

You can rent vans for as low as$1/day!

Good luck finding a hotel room that matches that price!

Even at a standard price and staying at a campground, your cost comes out lower than you would pay for a hotel room (around $70-80). And you get the fantastic experience of staying in the middle of nature, surrounded by other awesome campers.

You’re locked up in your little bubble in a hotel room. No friendly hellos, no next-door neighbor starting a warm fire for S’mores (hopefully), and no star-speckled sky you stare up at saying, “WOOOOOOOOWWWWW!”.

Sure, you don’t get complimentary soap and shampoo, but you get some excellent benefits in return.

3. An excellent mix for the perfect camping experience

Camping gets to the heart of what it is to be human.

Sitting around a campfire, enjoying the company of friends, then…retreating to your campervan when it’s cold.

One of the Escape Campervans sits in a campground with rocks around it

Wait, is that right?

It is for this occasion. If you love the idea of camping but aren’t keen on setting up a tent that may get blown over in the middle of the night, then these vans are for you.

They provide the perfect blend of the camping experience without some of the hassles of traditional camping. And that’s a massive relief if you’re inexperienced. Simply unfold your bed, set up your pillows, and have a comfortable evening bed.

Just make sure the campsite has a toilet and shower!

In the morning, fold your bed, roll out your stove and propane tank, and head out to make breakfast with the tools you’ll receive.

Eggs and bacon are on a plate in front of a table in the van

I want to call it the best of both worlds, but it might be the best, period.

Just make sure you dump your greywater in the right place 😉.

4. Great customer support

When I booked my Arizona campervan rental, I booked the bedding, kitchen sets, and a few other add-ons.

Unfortunately, they forgot to put them in the van before we left, and I forgot to check myself.

No issue. Escape’s excellent service came to the rescue to provide the best campervan experience.

A short phone call later and I was refunded the cost of the add-ons, credited additional money, and would be refunded for a bedding kit and kitchen set (which I would buy from Walmart after that call).

They could have had me drive back to pick up the sets (a 2 ½ hour drive back the way I just came) or told me they’d just credit the kits.

But they didn’t.

They went above and beyond to make sure my trip went uninterrupted. And if you read their reviews, you see it’s the same for everyone. Any small issues with the van, and they’re only a call or short trip away.

A great product will only get you so far. Customer service is what brings customers back.

And I’ll be back.

5. Escape Campervan locations are everywhere

One of the biggest worries is what happens on the road when something goes wrong.

What if you need to exchange your van because of an issue? Or do you just need to replace something small?

Don’t worry, be happy. Escape Campervans has locations across North America, so you’ll never be far from a site for help.

Here are the locations Escape Campervans operates:

  • Calgary, Alberta, Canada
  • Chicago, Illinois
  • Denver, Colorado
  • Las Vegas, Nevada
  • Los Angeles, California
  • New York City, New York
  • Orlando, Florida
  • Phoenix, Arizona
  • Portland, Oregon
  • Salt Lake City, Utah
  • San Francisco, California
  • Seattle, Washington
  • Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

It’d be great if they got more locations on the East Coast (which I’m sure is their priority). But that’s a story for a different day.

Especially if you’re traveling on the West Coast of the USA, your options are limitless.

Plus, you can rent a van and drive it to another location.

For example, pick up a van in Phoenix and drive it to Los Angeles to drop it off. In the meantime, enjoy some nature in between (like a trip to Death Valley!)

And, if you play it right, this is where you can snag one of Escape’s HUGE discounts.

6. Great add-on offers

I mentioned Escape forgot to include my add-ons (which wasn’t a big deal).

But these add-ons are what can take your trip from great to extraordinary.

A man stands smiling at the camera as he cooks breakfast in the back of the van

Here are just some of the add-ons they offer:

  • Bedding Kit. Pillows and cases, comforter, duvet cover, and fitted sheet ($40)
  • Kitchen Kit. Bowls & plates, cups & mugs, cutlery, knives, coffee maker, and so much more ($40, but sometimes included for free)
  • Electric Kit. 110v power cord, power adapter, surge protector, space heater/fan ($20)
  • Rooftop Sleeper. Double bed for the roof of your campervan ($30 for Maverick and Big Sur vans only)
  • Booster and Child Seat. For the younger van lifers in your party ($30)
  • Solar Shower. A 5-gallon bag that warms up during the day for a hot shower ($25)
  • Propane. For your camp stove ($10)

There are plenty more to choose from, but these are the most popular.

And, as you can see, they’re pretty damn useful.

7. Multiple vehicle types

It wouldn’t be fun if everyone had the same van model.

How about a little variety?

And Escape Campervans are listening, and they’ve each got a fantastic paint job to wow you.

And, luckily, you can choose what you want using their online booking system.

Maverick line

Escape’s signature and most budget-friendly van. The Maverick series has a large bed, kitchen, and great design. This is also the model Escape gave me as my rental.

The van is parked horizontally on a road with a grassy landscape behind it

The backseat unfolds to your comfy bed, and a well-stocked kitchen is in the back so you can eat well on the move. Plus, you can easily add a rooftop sleeper to this series if you have a larger party traveling with you. And you have a built-in water tank to have some running water in your sink.

The Maverick series is a reliable campervan to rent for medium-term van travel.

Santa Cruz line

Escape calls the Santa Cruz the “Ultimate 2-person campervan.”

And that’s due to its size. It’s smaller than other models but doesn’t skimp on features because of its small stature.

First, it’s the most fuel-efficient model Escape offers. So, if gas mileage is a big concern, then Santa Cruz is a perfect choice. Second, it’s smaller, so you don’t get the size the Big Sur or Maverick series take up. Last, you get all the features of the Maverick, just in a smaller space.

Less might not always be more, but it is with the Santa Cruz.

Big Sur line

Big Sur — the Grandaddy of them all!

Okay, not really. But the Big Sur series is the update to the Maverick model and gives you a bit of extra space with it.

Like the Maverick, it has a bed that unfolds, a functional kitchen in the back, and can add additional sleepers with Escape’s add-on. In fact, you can fit up to 5 people in this van with the rooftop sleeper!

So, this is perfect for families looking for a little outdoor time.

Jeep Camper line

Are you a “road less traveled” kind of camper/traveler?

Then the 4×4 Jeep Camper is perfect for getting away from crowds (and roads). Winding mountain roads, city streets, and everything in between are easy to navigate with the Jeep series.

But it still comes packed with rooftop tents and a kitchenette explicitly built for the Jeep. Just because you are choosing a smaller package doesn’t mean you shouldn’t get all the benefits, right?

So, if you plan on hitting the untouched dirt paths, the Jeep Camper is perfect for you.

Del Mar line

I know I said the Big Sur model was the Grandaddy of them all.

But, the Del Mar is the Great Grandaddy of them all! Escape designed the Del Mar to be the update to the Big Sur series, and you get plenty of space with that update.

The Del Mar sleeps five easily (without the rooftop add-on) and is your best choice for extended van life. A queen-sized bed inside, extra storage space, a spacious interior, and a beautiful kitchenette are all included and at a smaller size than an RV.

If the thought of driving around a land yacht (RV) fills you with terror, then the Del Mar is a great alternative.

8. Excellent Escape Campervan reviews

Look, you know I enjoyed my experience with Escape.

I’m writing an entire post about it! That much is obvious.

But you only have to check the reviews, and you’ll see I’m not the only one.

And people are sometimes notoriously harsh and fickle in their reviews. So, maintaining an excellent rating speaks to the work Escape is doing. And these are only recent reviews!

Escape Campervans is one of the best campervan rentals in the US. And it’s because they work hard to deliver an excellent experience.

9. Cool campervan designs

Surely you noticed from the pictures (how could you miss it?) each Escape van is hand-painted at its primary location in Los Angeles, CA.

And that makes for many looks and questions as you travel around.

What is this?

I love the design of your van! (I wish I could claim it was mine.)

Where did you find that?

The van sits with all doors open in the middle of a small campground

It also makes them incredibly easy to spot. So, no worries if you always forget where you parked your car. You’ll find this one.

When I visited the Grand Canyon, my girlfriend and I counted six Escape Campervans in our campground alone.

Sure, the ability to travel wherever and whenever is the main draw. But looking fabulous while doing it doesn’t hurt.

10. Great insurance coverage

Accidents are inevitable sometimes.

And you’d like the peace of mind of knowing you’re covered if you’re unlucky enough to be in a car accident.

Escape Campervans have you covered too. For only $13.99-$29.99/day, you can opt for insurance that gives you that peace of mind. Plus, all the vans come with 24/7 Roadside Assistance. So even if you need minor assistance, you know Escape has your back.

I purchased the insurance for my rental, and I luckily avoided any accidents.

But, it made the van bed even more comfortable, knowing I was covered if anything did happen.

11. Simple Escape Campervan rental process

From when I arrived to pick up the van to when I was driving off took about 20 minutes total.

A quick check and documentation of any existing damages or problems, the usual paperwork to fill out, and you’re off on your trip.

Someone gives a man keys to the van with the van in the background

The last thing you want is delays.

And Escape understands that. They want you to enjoy your trip, too.

So, they do everything they can to get keys in your hands. Or out of your hands for the drop-off at the end of the rental.

Escape’s van rental did precisely that. Perhaps a bit too quick, as we both forgot about the extra add-ons 😬.

So, what are you waiting for? Escape Campervans is waiting for you!

Hopefully, this Escape Camper Van review helped you decide whether or not to give Escape a try.

Even better if you’ve already gone and booked your campervan! If you’re like me and looking for Arizona camper van rentals in Phoenix, you can’t overlook Escape Campervans. I can’t recommend this company enough for RV rentals, even if you only want to try it for a 7-day rental.

And, if you’re also in Arizona, I’ve got some great hikes for you to check out while renting your van. The Echo Canyon Trail in Phoenix and the Aspen Loop Trail in Flagstaff are excellent options to enjoy your trip.If you want to stay in Phoenix, I recommend the Cholla, Echo Canyon, and Treasure Loop Trails for great hiking!

It’s awesome that this article talked about how the best way to travel is in a rental campervan because of its simplicity and freedom. Since I enjoy camping and my friends and I have chosen to go camping this summer, I have chosen to rent a camper van for our group’s use. When renting a camper van rental the following week, I’ll make certain to pick a reputable auto dealer.
